The “AZAADI-70” - Independence was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at Fathima Memorial Training College, Pallimukk, Kollam. As part of ‘Azaadi-70’ we celebrated the ‘Quit India’ on august 9th in our college. On that day apart from the usual formats of morning assembly, Divya of Natural Science option shared her perspectives and views about the ‘Quit India movements’ and the freedom struggles. She effectively mentioned the necessity of commitments of the current generation towards the country and through her speech she was able to make aware our students about the sacrifice in the freedom struggle and about the needs of nation building.
On august 15, ceremony started at 9AM in college open ground with large crowd of staff and students. As the usual format of our every programme, we started with ‘Fathiha’ and prayer song by Rahmath of physical science option and Sruthi of Natural science option respectively. With poetical words and charming face, Bhagya Lekshmi of Mathematics option, was played comparing role of the entire programme. On our principal’s request, founder and chairman of our college, Dr.Younis Kunju, who is a sacred legend, come forward to perform the flag-hoisting ceremony. Exactly at quarter past nine the flag was hoisted. To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the Chairman unfurled the tricolour flag. We stood in attention to give salute to the flag. After the ceremony certain selected patriotic song were sung by the degree students that awakened everyone’s feelings towards our Mother Land. The flag ceremony came to close with a speech delivered by the manager. In which, He threw light on the importance of the day and our duties towards the country, especially as the teachers of tomorrow. At the same time teaching and non-teaching staffs distributed the sweets among the students.  Ponni Das of social science option shared her views on the significance of the day. The programme concluded up with the vote of thanks by Fathima Shams of English option. At the end of the flag hoisting ceremony all in unison sang the National Anthem and expressed the joy of our freedom.   After that principal Dr.N.Anitha gave certain instruction to the students and thereafter all the students and teachers assembled in the college auditorium for the further programmes.
‘Patriotic songs are songs that demonstrate love for one’s country, or have themes that glorify self-sacrifice, land’s beauty, history or ideals’. So in order to invoke a strong sense of patriotism in each on who presented on this auspicious day, a ‘Patriotic song competition’ was organized to expose our students to music, while also enhancing their language and presentation skills. All the team prepared well for the competition and a wide range of songs were presented. While the choice of song ranged from the traditional patriotic to some own composition, it was interesting that each team had worked hard to comprehend the lyrics and sing the songs with conviction. All the teams participated with utmost gusto and spirit of patriotism really came true. And the students were full of zeal and gave their melodious presentation. The competition was won by Mathematics department. The second and third position   was bagged by Natural Science and English departments respectively.
The flow of knowledge “Vaykhari-16”- enlightening, motivating and engaging would describe the Quiz Competition of F.M.T.C. It was aimed at developing the knowledge and excellence base about the Indian freedom fight and the related, among the students through healthy and highly motivating meet. The participants crammed themselves up with a lot of preparation and home works for the quiz. Ms. Anju Raj and Ms. Najmi.N, students of social science and Malayalam department respectively, bombarded the contestant with questioner. A strong hardworking team including Jency (Social science), Jeethu (Physical science), Sherin (Natural science) and etc were played the backstage role of the quiz competition. Mazes of intuited and interesting questions were asked to the contestants. Four highly different rounds were set up to the quiz such as Ghandhian era, Freedom movements, general knowledge and Indian constitution. The quiz had a rapid fire round which made it more exciting for the contestant and audience both. Each team put up a whole hearted effort but team Physical Science aced the first prize and that of Natural science stood second. The team of Social science, Malayalam and English showed an amazing performance and a great spirit and positioned themselves as the third, fourth and fifth for the competition respectively.
The whole programmes were in charged by Mrs. Parvathy Sudhakar and Mrs.Aswathy, the faculties of F.M.T.C. And the total coordination of programmes was done by Maneesh.B and Archana Unnikrishan, students of Physical and Natural science department respectively.       
Thus we celebrated our Independence Day in our college. This day always remained us of the untold sacrifice of the fighters of the freedom. We should worship those patriots who shed their blood for achieving Freedom.  Indeed it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.

We informed the details to every parent and requested other teachers support. Gandhi Jayanti 2016 - Report

"Peace is the most powerful weapon of mankind. It takes more courage to take a blow than give one" - Mahatma Gandhi India’s 3 rd national festival, Gandhi Jayanti, is celebrated by the entire nation to commemorate the birth anniversary of the father of our nation-Mahatama Gandhi. B.Ed. trainees celebrated bapu’s birthday in Fathima Memorial Training college, on 3 rd  October, 2016, with great zeal, enthusiasm and patriotism. Gandhi Jayanti is also celebrated as the International Peace Day all across the world. The programme began with fathiha. A devotional ambience prevailed as the programme started with a meaningful prayer service in the form of ‘Sarva Matha Prarthana’. As Gandhiji said “The need of the moment is not one religion but mutual respect and tolerance of different religions.” It was proved by reading a verse each from the Bible, Quran and Bhagavad-Gita.   The teacher trainees read out and interpreted the verses.
